Our History
Midamar was initially established on the foundation of international sales and development. After several years of dedicated work and market research, Midamar became a well-known and respected name for servicing international markets requiring quality Halal meat and food products. Starting in the early 1980's, Midamar was, perhaps, the first North American company to recognize the potential for a high quality U.S.D.A inspected and processed line of Halal meat items for U.S. consumers.
Most of the immigrant Halal consumers to the United States traditionally did not consume Western style processed meats in their home countries. However, with the growth of international food concepts focusing on burgers, pizzas, and a full range of family restaurants, a need was filled by Midamar to provide a high quality Halal product. Within 5 years, Midamar was producing more than 40 beef and turkey products to the highest nutritional standards with quality packaging under U.S.D.A. regulations and in total conformity to Halal guidelines.
Midamar's commitment was and still is to make the highest quality Halal products available to all Halal consumers. The Midamar brand is a recognized name in the diverse and multi-cultural Halal consuming societies in the U.S.A. Halal consumers, especially the children and youth, have come to love American food just as their friends and neighbors do. Midamar's continues to strive to satisfy the Western and Ethnic Halal food requests of Halal consumers wanting to be part of Western society, yet still remain faithful to the teachings of Islam with regard to what is Halal and Haram.
By start of the1990’s, Midamar had grown to a point where plans were being drawn up to expand from the various rented facilities it occupied, and build a new building capable of housing Midamar's offices, dry warehouse, freezers, and cold storage facilities, and to apply for U.S.D.A. approval for the facility. In 1992, Midamar completed it’s new 30,000 sq. foot facility. As the business continued to expand globally and domestically, Midamar again was looking to expand even further and by late 1999, Midamar started work on another major expansion adding another 15,000 square feet of warehouse, 120,000 cubic feet of freezer space, and 50,000 cubic feet of chiller cold rooms, all under U.S.D.A. inspection.
That last expansion helped boost Midamar’s ability to service its customers globally as well as domestically. As markets continue to grow and change over time so does Midamar’s commitment to its customers to provide the best possible service and products possible.
Moving Forward
As Midamar approaches its 50th year in business, we are proud to say we have serviced all 50 states, Canada, some 30 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, South America, and the Caribbean. Midamar’s commitment to our continued belief in providing excellent service and products to our customers is as unwavering now as it was when the company first started. With a continued focus on improving customer service and new product development, Midamar looks forward to another 50 plus years of serving customers the world over.
